Winter Self-Care Guide
Always thinking of everyone else during the festive season. This year, it’s time to think about YOU.
I’ve created a Winter Self-Care Guide to help you slow down, reset, and nourish yourself before the seasonal rush begins.
The festive season is full of warmth and connection, but it can also be busy and a little overwhelming. This is your gentle reminder to look after yourself as you plan, prepare, and think about all your nearest and dearest. Because when you feel balanced and cared for, everything else flows with ease.
Stay hydrated
It’s easy to forget one of the body’s most basic needs during the festive rush. I keep my skin refreshed with a hydrating facial mist, and if, like me, you struggle to drink cold water in winter, sip on a warm herbal tea to stay hydrated from within. Herbal teas such as chamomile, green tea, or rooibos are lovely options, each with properties that support healthy, glowing skin.
Nourish your skin
Now is the perfect time to switch up your winter skincare routine. If you love your facial oil during the day but find your skin needs deeper nourishment, try layering a small amount of face balm over your oil wherever you need extra comfort.
On particularly cold, windy days, I often swap my daily oil for a balm entirely. It gives my skin long-lasting hydration and protection from the elements while keeping it soft and radiant.
Skip the hot bath
A long, hot bath may feel like the perfect winter ritual, but very hot water can strip the skin’s natural oils, leaving it dehydrated. Cold water can boost circulation, help firm the skin, and leave you feeling instantly refreshed
For an extra bit of indulgence, I love adding a Restore or Calm Bath Bomb, they fill the air with natural botanical scents and leave my skin feeling soft and comforted.
To bring back your natural glow, try a restorative body scrub two or three times a week. Massage it onto dry skin in gentle, upward circular motions to boost circulation and smooth away dullness. Rinse, pat dry, and follow with your favourite body balm or oil for silky, radiant skin.
Comfort your hands and lips
Winter weather can quickly leave your hands and lips feeling dry, tight, and chapped. These delicate areas are more exposed to the elements and have fewer oil glands, meaning they lose moisture faster, especially in cold, windy conditions.
To protect and repair them, I like to layer my care just as I layer my winter clothes. I start with a soothing hand balm to deeply hydrate and soothe the hands, then follow with a nourishing lip balm to seal in moisture and shield against the chill.
I keep a balm in my bag or pocket so I can reapply throughout the day. My skin always thanks me for the extra protection!
Nourishing Self-Care just for you…
A final thought…
Winter is the perfect time to slow down, take stock, and create small rituals that help you feel grounded. Whether it’s lighting a candle, applying your favourite Irish handmade skincare, or enjoying a few quiet minutes of calm, self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, it just needs to be intentional.
This year, permit yourself to pause.
To rest.
To care for YOU.
Because self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential.
