If Only I Could Bottle This
The beginning of our natural perfume collection
It was a May evening on the shores of Lough Carra.
The light was beginning to soften, that quiet shift between day and night where everything feels still for a moment. The trees were just coming into leaf, wildflowers scattered through the grass, and the air carried that unmistakable freshness of early summer.
I was walking with my father along the edge of the lake, taking it all in.
And I remember thinking, if only I could bottle this.
Not just the scent of the place, but the feeling of it.
The calm. The clarity. The sense of being completely present, without distraction.
It is something we rarely pause to notice, but certain moments hold a depth that stays with you. A place, a season, a shift in the air. You may not always be able to describe it, but you recognise it when you feel it.
That moment stayed with me.
Years later, as I began working more deeply with natural materials, I found myself returning to that same thought. Not as a passing idea, but as something to explore.
How do you capture a place, not just in scent, but in feeling?
How do you translate a landscape into something you can return to, again and again?
Perfumery became a way of answering that question.
Working with botanicals, resins, woods and florals, I began to understand how scent can evoke memory, atmosphere, and emotion. How it can ground you, shift your mood, or bring you back to a particular moment in time.
Not by recreating it exactly, but by capturing its essence.
From that process, three perfumes slowly began to emerge.
Meabh - a rich floral amber with soft creamy florals and a quiet sense of sensuality.
Anú - warm honeyed hay layered over a soft creamy musk, inspired by the feeling of late summer light.
Hawthorn - a gentle floral wood with soft musks, intimate and grounding like blossom carried on warm air.
The collection is deeply connected to the landscape around me, to the changing seasons, and to those fleeting moments that often pass unnoticed.
Because sometimes, what stays with us most…
is something we can’t quite put into words.
This collection is still unfolding quietly, and there is much more I look forward to sharing in the weeks ahead.
